UI/UX Design

Adding new features to a product can often result in added complexity for users. The Textburst team had identified a potential area for improvement in the merging of contacts, groups, shortcodes and keywords.

An agile, iterative design/development process resulted in a greatly improved Groups section. This allowed customers greater flexibility when managing their contacts and helped to clarify the often misunderstood “text-to-join” feature.

The Process

Firstly, I created quick and dirty wireframes in order to get an idea of how users might navigate the new Groups section of the app.

Mockups

With the user flow sufficiently wireframed, I created some initial mockups to see how things might look.

Prototypes

I built an interactive prototype from the initial mockups using Marvel App. Have a click around below to see the prototype in action.

Iteration

This prototype was then iterated as the project progressed. Prototypes proved incredibly useful as part of our agile development process. They enabled us to check our assumptions before investing valuable resources and allowed us to get vital feedback from our customer services team much earlier in the project.

Result

The project succeeded in streamlining the process of adding and managing contacts within Textburst. Combining the previously separate Groups and keyword/shortcode functionality made Groups even more powerful.
